so it just makes perfect sense to do it that way, as it saves both time and space. plus, you can fit a lot more onto each disc. It’s a LOT quicker than having to recode them to various formats to play them on most traditional home DVD players. for example, you can fit about 6 regular movies in AVI format (at about 700MB each in size) on a standard DVD-R. He is looking for a DVD player that will support AVI files, multiple files per disc. I believe what he is asking, is the same thing I would like to know (searching the net for an answer is what led me to this thread).

This is the only way to do it unless you convert the movie to vcd, in which case it will fit on one cd. You can get them on E-bay for around $50 Aus. If you wish to play smaller files, go and buy a Divx compatible dvd player. To be played in non Divx dvd players, the file must be convered to a larger file format, as this is the industry standard. This is the same principal as Normal Audio tracks and MP3s. Tjis is why dvd movies are on dvd not cd.Ī avi movie is a compressed movie file format, usualy Divx or Xvid. Dvd movies (comercial ones) are encoded to TS and vob files, which are alot larger than avi files. The reason they get larger in size is because of the file format. anyone know another way to convert avi files to DVD files so they dont get larger in size? I dont know of any DiVX player, but i do know that if you want to burn avi files that are playable on the everyday DVD player, you have to use NaroVision and wait 7 hours for the stupid conversion and the avi files get like.5 times larger, so you cant put a lot of them on a DVD.
